From deciding the perfect dress to buying the latest jewellery, brides make sure that no stone is left unturned for them to look gorgeous on the most important day of their lives. And, no bridal outfit is ever complete without a pair of glittery heels. It would probably be very difficult to find a woman who does not like high heels. We not just love, but also wish to have tonnes of pairs of those ‘sexy-sins’ in our wardrobe. But, there is one thing that always comes in between a woman and her precious pair of heels. Yes, it is the ‘pain’ that heels bring in with them.
Are you also the one who keeps herself away from these temptations just because of the above reason? Well, in that case, your wait is over! There are certain things about high heels that all women must know while buying these indulgences. Adding to this, there are also some clever and smart ways to wear them without feeling pain.
So, TBS is here to let you know everything about buying and wearing heels minus that pain.
1. BUY THE PERFECT SIZE
The logic is simple– if it hurts, it is not right. One of the biggest mistakes that women make is to buy the wrong size. So, when you go for shoe shopping, it is important to buy the right size. Also, do not always believe the shopkeeper, when he says, “Madam ji baad mai khul jaayega.” Always go for a pair that fits well and doesn’t squeeze your toes.
2. KNOW YOUR FEET TYPE
Your foot has a specific arch type, which you need to keep in mind while buying any shoes, and especially the high heels. Depending on the type of your feet, you could either have a high arch, a normal arch, or a flat foot. The heels you buy should suit the arch of your feet, else they will be very painful for you. For instance, if you are flat footed, you need to use shoe inserts suitable for your feet.
3. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
The quality of the heels is directly related to the level of comfort you would feel when you wear them. The factors like design, material, shape, etc., are some of the important things to be taken into consideration while buying the heels. So next time, be informed and do not take a chance with the quality, else you mind end up with sore feet due to your negligence.
4. GIVE YOUR FEET SOME REST
When you need to wear heels for whole day, it would then be necessary to give your feet some relief occasionally. Hence, it would be a great idea to kick off the shoes once in every couple of hours, to give your feet a massage. Knead the muscles to remove the tension in them. A five minute massage will prepare you for another couple of hours of walking around to greet your loved ones.
5. SAY YES TO THICK SOLED SHOES
High heeled shoes that have thin soles do not provide adequate cushioning and support to your feet. As a result, they make your feet hurt more. When you buy shoes, you need to pay attention to the thickness and material used for the soles. Platform heels are better than thin-soled stilettos because of this reason.
6. AVOID SLIPPING, USE SAND PAPER
One of the biggest issues people have when learning how to walk in high heels is slippage: a lot of high heeled shoes have soles which are completely smooth, and don’t offer any grip at all, and that makes them even harder to walk in and around the wedding venue. If you don’t want to wear your new heels outdoors quite yet, you can do it yourself by gently rubbing the soles with sandpaper or using scissors to carefully score the soles: if you’re still worried, you can also buy stick-on soles which will give your shoe more grip.
