Eid is right around the corner and while it is a thanksgiving day where Muslims assemble in a brotherly and joyful atmosphere to offer their gratitude to Allah, it is not confined to spiritual devotion and verbal expressions. It goes far beyond than that to manifest itself in a handsome shape of social and humanitarian spirit.
On the Eid day, Muslims get up early in the morning. They take a bath and put on their best dresses. They decorate their homes in an elaborate fashion. They thank Allah, visit mosques and offer prayers in the form of ‘Namaz’. They embrace one another and exchange Eid greetings. ‘Eid Mubarak’ is on the lips of each Muslim.

Food is central to any celebration. In India, no celebration is ever complete without food. Be it Diwali, Holi, Gurupurab or Christmas. On Eid, Sweets are distributed, gifts are given and delicious dishes are prepared at home. Friends and relatives are invited to feasts. In India, all communities join the Muslims in celebrating Eid. Sharing food is the best way to celebrate, it creates bond and brings people closer.
